Attorney General Reveals Probe into President's Rivals and Jeffrey Epstein Links
On Friday, the Attorney General assigned Jay Clayton to oversee an probe into political adversaries of the President and their links with the late financier. This move came hours after the president ordered her to begin the investigation.
During an announcement, the Attorney General highlighted Clayton as “one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country”. She stated, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”
This development contrasts with a recent memorandum from federal authorities which declared that documents related to Epstein lacked grounds for additional investigations. According to the document, investigators “lacked sufficient evidence to pursue cases against other parties.”
Trump Demands Scrutiny of Democrats in the Epstein Matter
This news comes as growing pressure from the president on lawmakers to block the full release of files concerning Epstein before an upcoming House vote next week. Many Republicans are anticipated to back the disclosure.
Newly public emails from Epstein have spotlighted Trump’s past involvement with the convicted criminal, including information that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.
On Friday, the President announced he would ask the DOJ to examine connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, specifically naming prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Paradoxically, Trump also referred to the “Epstein situation” as a “deception”.
